Keep On Swimming

A big welcome from Emma and Karen - our highly qualified teachers and coaches. Here are their stories...

Having swam for Colchester swimming Club till the age of 16, Emma made it to the regionals where she competed in Butterfly and Breaststroke so it was a natural progression to qualify to teach children which she has done for the last 20 years. Aimee swam for Braintree Swimming club and then Colchester Swimming Club from the age of 8 till the age of 13. She could usually be found at open meets under the vending machines looking for pennies to buy sweets.

Aimee has not strayed too far away from working with children and has recently completed her apprenticeship to be an early years practitioner at a Montessori Nursery. She is often on hand during the school holidays and offers a very gentle approach with the little ones.

Bronte was the type of toddler to throw herself into a swimming pool head first, she learnt to swim very early.

She then swam for Colchester Swimming Club from the age of 8 till the age of 17, where she got into the regional talent program for her backstroke.

Bronte is in her final year at University studying Nursing, where is due to qualify as a Paediatric Nurse in the Summer. Over the holidays she can often be seen, dividing her time between Coaching for Colchester Swimming Club and helping our little team where she can.

Anola Swam for Colchester Swimming Club from the age of 8 until 16, competing at County level. Works as Cabin Crew but is often seen on her days off from the skies covering. With her friendly smile she will be on hand to point out the emergency exits as well as having a natural ability of putting people at ease in an instant.

Used to swim for Braintree Swimming Club from 2012 until 2019 competing at County Level. As well as being incredibly organised (usually the colour coordinated floats are down to him) he is also the joker of the team and lots of fun. Luckily for us he is also an amazing cook and he often makes freshly baked cookies for the team.
Initially joined the team under the Duke of Edinburgh scheme, but very quickly became a firm favourite. Lily used to swim for Braintree Swimming Club from 2015 until 2019. She can often be seen competing against Fin in mini competitions set by Karen, thankfully for us this often includes baking competitions.
A firm favourite with our little swimmers she also swam with Braintree Swimming club from 2016-2019. Amy has continued to excel in her role and is due to start her training to become a Swimming Teacher in September. She enjoys Netball and still plays for Kelvedon Flames. She has also enjoyed coaching Netball whilst at College and worked hard to achieve coaching and physical activity level 2 qualification.
Is an ex pupil and was taught by Emma for over 12 years from a baby. Although Nathan chose not to venture into the competitive world of swimming he has continued to swim vocationally and is due to start his training to become a Swimming Teacher after his GCSEs.
Emi and Zac have recently joined the team! More details to follow.
